The Moon Lab at the Center for Immunology and Inflammatory Diseases (CIID) at Massachusetts General Hospital - Harvard Medical School is seeking a full-time Research Technician I to assist in cellular immunology research beginning in June, 2021.
The laboratory studies basic issues of CD4+ T cell tolerance through the use of advanced mouse and human models of adaptive immunity. We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and exceptionally organized research technician to assist in a diverse range of duties pertaining to nearly all operations of the lab. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- general lab maintenance
- DNA plasmid cloning
- recombinant protein expression and purification
- tissue culture
- minor oversight of mouse colony (no weaning or genotyping)
- basic mouse procedures (injections)
- mouse dissection and tissue preparation
- human blood and tissue processing
- cellular assays including ELISpot and flow cytometry
- molecular assays including cDNA preparation for single cell RNA-seq analysis
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
The applicant must be extremely well organized, technically proficient, critically minded, and able to work independently.
EDUCATION:
The applicant must have a B.A., B.S, or M.S. in a science-related discipline, preferably with some background in immunology.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in mouse handling, tissue culture, molecular biology, protein chemistry, or flow cytometry is highly desired, but not required.
