Better requires process, discipline, and simplification

We will be looking to you to be the primary legal support for Western Union’s global information security team.  You will interface between tech, business, and legal functions to help ensure quality customer experience and compliance with global regulations and standards.  You will serve as a trusted partner in connection with the development of products, platforms, services, and other strategic technology initiatives. You’ll evolve and support Western Union’s Incident response processes for both cybersecurity and privacy, including giving legal advice around data breaches, customer and regulatory notifications. You will conduct advance legal and technical research to provide clear and precise legal advice and guidance regarding applicable law, team policies and protocols to global business partners.  You’ll interact directly with and respond to business unit clients, outside counsel, and vendors on privacy-related issues.

For such a pivotal role, you will have 4+ years of legal or compliance experience with a law firm, corporate legal department, or government agency providing legal advice regarding security requirements, data breach analyses, and notifications.  You will hold a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited school of law, and in good standing in at least one U.S. state, ideally, you would have a relevant cybersecurity certification such as CISSP.  You will have strong research and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to review complex legal documents. You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide analytical and consultative direction and communicate with all levels of leadership.  Previous experience of agile working methodologies is also desirable.
