Summary

The Senior Director Operations for Stanley Black & Decker provides global leadership and strategy across all regions as part of the Global Operations team focused on the GTS B+D platform. The SVP of Global Operations determines the overall operations strategy for the organization, while the VP Operations will be responsible for transforming operational excellence for one of the sub business units with a specific focus on Lean principles. The successful candidate will also be tasked with building capability and succession planning within the team, building bench strength at all levels within the operation. In this role, the Operations leader will develop strategy, and implement change responsive to external environment and participate in a cross-functional business and cultural development. Success in this role requires leadership across a complex regional, business, and functional matrix.

The successful candidate is coming into a team-based culture and must support that culture by inspiring and leading teams to success.

The position will be based remotely, preferably in the United States. Significant travel is required for this role (minimum of 30% and up to 80%).

Duties & Responsibilities

* Develop, Communicate, and Foster a Clear strategy for the business, ensuring the alignment with Corporate Global Operations Strategy.
* Drive the manufacturing operations to World Class Model Plant recognition levels that would be recognized by the external to SBD community.
* Develop and deploy improvement actions related to key business operations metrics and overall manufacturing effectiveness, including, but not limited to: safety, quality, delivery, inventory and cost with a focus on On Time in Full (OTIF), Service Levels to the Customer and Working Capital.
* Establish and implement a robust set of standard operational procedures and processes supported by lean principles emphasizing continuous improvement in all areas to promote efficiency and effectiveness of the enterprise.
* Identify new sourced product opportunities and develop sourced product supplier base for B+D business
* Develop make vs buy strategy to leverage internal and external resources.
* Partner with the Industry 4.0 COE to support project plans of implementing automation and connected factory tools in the plants for productivity improvements.
* Ensure full compliance with all government, local and corporate laws and policies including Environmental, Health & Safety.
* Ensure a safe workplace for all employees in every office and manufacturing facility globally. Safety must always be at the forefront of everything we do and the leadership is expected to promote, model and support a safety always culture.
* Review and approve preparation of accounting analysis for budgetary planning and implementation, production efficiency, financial reporting, budgetary planning and submittal for capital expenditures.
* Direct business planning process improvement initiatives globally and influence and implement best practice.
* Monitor the on-time and complete performance of manufacturing plants / facilities.
* Work with product development and sourcing departments to help integrate new suppliers or brand launches as well as regulatory upgrades to existing packaging or formulations.
* Work closely with the supply chain and quality leadership teams to ensure best practice and efficiencies.
* Implement and oversee Lean transformation and manufacturing footprint projects across the region.
* Direct interdisciplinary leadership team of Finance, Human Resources, Quality, IT and GSM to work to a common goal and objective while maximizing their groups individual contributions.
* Develop and deploy improvement actions related to key business operations metrics and overall manufacturing effectiveness.

Qualifications

* Minimum of 15 years of related progressive manufacturing operations experience with a world class global operations organization.
* Experience in leading a global/regional business segment, preferred
* Experience working with Asia components and finished consumer products supplier base.
* Strong analytical and quantitative skills, interpersonal effectiveness, and leadership.
* Experience in Strategic planning and execution.
* Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of the Company and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse global company.
* Effective project management skills including the ability to manage several key projects simultaneously.
* The ability to quickly assess the operational efficiency of a functional group or facility and prioritize improvement processes.
* An ability to develop a world-class management team.
* Lean Manufacturing experience/ Six Sigma.
* Demonstrated ability to drive Transformation within the operation.
* M&A integration experience.
* A track record in working within a Data Driven environment. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and develop financial plans and manage resources.
* Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures.
* Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

* MBA preferred
* Experience managing multi-functions: Finance, quality, purchasing, manufacturing, supply chain, and/or procurement.
* Experience with SAP is a plus.
