Performs manual and clerical duties related to the preparation and shipment of customer samples, components and finished products mailed primarily through Fed Ex, UPS, USPS or other similar carrier. Maintain necessary files and documentation. Utilizes small hand tools and operate scales, metering machines, etc. and primarily use hand trucks to move materials around. Typical shipping activities include: checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations, packing goods for shipment according to specifications, preparing bills of lading, posting weight and shipping charges and attach information and shipping instructions on to boxes. May occasionally perform activities related to the receiving materials such as unpacking of goods; checking against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., identification and quantity; maintaining records of goods received; rejects damaged, excess or misdirected goods, routes material to inspection, stores or other destinations. May require operation of a forklift truck.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Verifies and monitors incoming receiving arrangements.
* Compares identifying information and counts for all incoming shipments.
* Reviews all customer shipping requirements in conjunction with WBS routing, ensuring proper outbound routing is applied to all shipments.
* Generates paperwork to include: labels, packing list, and BOLs for following day's production and distributes to appropriate work areas.
* Maintains and performs Shipping Office SOPs to ensure customer service levels are met and reports discrepancies to management.
* Performs ship confirmations in WBS and maintains BOL files on all outbound shipments.
* Data entry into warehouse management system and customer routing sites.
* Support and assist customers with problem resolution.
* Understand the cause and effect between clerk responsibilities and other related operation positions (i.e. billing, purchasing, etc.)
* Assists in training employees how to perform assigned tasks.
* Monitors job quality by performing frequent quality inspections. Reports issues/problems in a timely manner to supervisor for resolution.
* Recommend changes to supervisor to improve procedures
* Notify supervisor or coordinator of any safety hazards
* Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out - tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies.
* Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
* Maintains certification on mobile equipment, when trained, if necessary to perform the job

Requirements
* Strong knowledge and experience using a WBS (warehouse management system) application preferred.
* Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at level of detail required to resolve issues.
* Requires very good communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand.
* Able to apply basic functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows other technical tools in completing assignments.
* Basic math skills and sound mathematical reasoning. Must have an organized approach to task completion and excellent attention to detail.
* Physical requirements of this position include: ability to stand for extended period, ability to lift and handle cartons up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis and up to 40 pounds on a continuous basis.
* Ability to solve problems by analyzing variables and applying appropriate solutions learned through experience and proficiency in understanding the job.
* Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required.
* Computer literacy preferred.
* Good organizational and communication skills required.
* Ability to read and interpret data and draw valid conclusions.
