PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Enterprise Architecture Technical Design Manager (EATDM) engages with Operating Company, IT leadership and peers in a fast-paced, Fortune 100 company. This role leads a team of technical architects to develop and operationalize the Enterprise Architecture (EA) framework tools, processes and related governance strategy.

The ideal candidate will plan and manage resources, financials, scope and services within the EA area of Information Technology to deliver key business and IT results. Aligned to this mission, this role leads a team of professionals tasked with being the single point-of-contact for the business and IT teams to provide IT Architecture Governance products, services and solutions on time, within budget and with the required functionality to drive our standards-based Enterprise Architecture Governance strategy. This role will establish, maintain and enhance relationships with their clients and participate in developing and implementing strategy/policy while managing projects of medium-to-high complexity, size and change management risk. This role will participate in the overall leadership of the Information Technology organization, will create and maintain strategic relationships with key IT vendors and manage IT vendor contracts that support this specific function.

To be successful in this role, the EATDM will drive strong cross-functional collaboration with a broad group of stakeholders. This includes Business and IT leadership, application portfolio owners, peer infrastructure architects, solution architects, enterprise architects, relevant IT engineering and operations teams and consulting partners among many others. This role must be proactive, open-minded, have a curious mind and a questioning attitude to drive continuous improvement. A working knowledge of the Energy and Utilities business and related technology trends is required. The EATDM will possess a strong ability to anticipate needs and challenges, be action-oriented and self-directed driven by the goal of successful business outcomes of Enterprise Architecture processes on behalf of the business and peer IT teams. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills are a must.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Lead and manage an IT staff of 610 resources in accordance with the IT Business Plan.
* Plan and manage project scope, schedule, resources, and budget for defined deliverables in accordance with IT project management standards.
* Manage operational portfolio to defined service level agreements within agreed upon budget.
* Lead a team of technical architects and developers tasked with identifying and translating system requirements into prescribed architecture and design that meet business requirements and are aligned to Exelon architecture standards and principles.
* Lead a team responsible for ensuring architecture adherence through collaborative blueprint and design reviews and by conducting reviews thought the development cycle and as part of major release/transformation activities.
* Work with project teams and IT Operations to ensure that designs are properly executed/implemented in production, leveraging industry standards as applicable.
* Operate utilizing standard processes as defined within the Exelon Management Model.
* Oversee process improvement efforts and ensure adoption of standard processes and procedures that deliver sustainable top quartile cost and performance levels.
* Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with business and IT partners while communicating status to key stakeholders on a regular basis.
* Maintain current business knowledge/acumen, including application of technology solutions and applicable trends to deliver business results.
* Evaluate performance and provide coaching for IT personnel. Participate in career development and succession planning processes. Promote diversity and foster teamwork, collaboration, and a learning organization. Provide input on development and retention processes for IT employees.
* Prepare and manage budget and LongRange Plan for area of responsibility.
* Collaborate with other architects on infrastructure configuration and strategy.
* Maintain subject matter expertise in the Architecture Engagement, Technical Review and Architecture Review Board processes, methodology and related governance models.

Desirable

* Previous experience with Energy and Utilities regulatory environments and business models.
* Experience with Enterprise Architecture framework and related Management Model governance policies.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

* Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
* 810 years in proven, diverse experience in IT, with a focus in Technical Architecture or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
* Direct experience with strategy and architecture preferred.
* Comprehensive understanding of change management techniques associated with new technology implementation.
* Experience developing a financial business case.
* Strong demonstrated leadership ability.
* Strong judgment, excellent analytical ability and consulting skills.
* Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT and business management and with vendors.
* Strong ownership of domain with ability to operate independently with little to no supervision, set direction and lead others by defining direction effectively in ambiguous situations.
