PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

This position serves to supervise a staff of Safety Professionals and provides leadership required to implement safety programs and initiatives including, but is not limited to, the execution of the Safety Council Structure, governance and oversight of line-led safety teams, management of contracted programs (soft tissue incident reduction, public outreach, etc.), implementation of approved Safety business plan initiatives, mentoring stakeholders in the practical application of safety principles, employing Human Performance improvement techniques in safety initiatives, supporting the business in safety investigations & corrective actions, and analysis of safety statistics to identify emerging issues. The position is also responsible for ensuring compliance of safety regulations and maintaining safety statistics and databases for the operating company.

Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Lead, coach, mentor and manage performance of direct reports. Ensure that Safety Professionals are supporting their clients, attending meetings, resolving safety issues, conducting field observations, responding to safety emergencies, etc. Perform field and driving observations on Safety Professionals. Conduct performance planning and appraisals. Identify opportunities for growth and learning.
* Coordinate with direct reports and stakeholders to implement safety initiatives and programs. This includes, but is not limited to, the execution of the Safety Council Structure, governance and oversight of line-led safety teams, management of contracted programs (soft tissue incident reduction, public outreach, etc), implementation of approved Safety business plan initiatives, mentoring stakeholders in the practical application of safety principles, employing Human Performance improvement techniques in safety initiatives, supporting the business in safety investigations & corrective actions, and analysis of safety statistics to identify emerging issues.
* Ensure compliance of safety regulations (ie: OSHA, DOT, State, utility commission, etc). This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring for regulatory changes, providing subject matter expertise, and performing required reporting.
* Maintain safety statistics and databases. Ensure timely and accurate information for OSHA reporting, Key Performance Indicators, benchmarking, dashboards, executive presentations, etc. Coordinate with Safety Professionals, Occ Health, and Legal to recommend determination of OSHA recordability.

JOB SCOPE

* Mgr Safety Field Services provides supervision, direction and coaching to team members as required. This position is reports directly to the Manager of Safety and Human Performance in the Support Services organization.
* Frequent interface with internal and external key stakeholders including senior management, governmental and regulatory officials.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATION

* Bachelors Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene/Health, Business, Engineering, or related field with 8 - 10 years of Operational /Safety experience.
* Or in lieu of a bachelors degree 15 + years of Operations experience including the demonstrated ability to manage a team.
* Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
* Demonstrated leadership ability to implement and manage change initiatives and organizational strategies.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze data, interpret information and formulate recommendations.
