Job Summary/Purpose

This position is in the Distribution Project Development (DPD) team that is in the PME&C organization. This role will be responsible for taking projects identified by distribution project sponsors and working with the PM in the group to provide a detailed scope, cost estimate, and first pass schedule for each project. This position will coordinate with many groups outside their own to ensure the goals of DPD are met.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Provide safety leadership by exemplifying strong safety culture for others to follow.

Lead the efforts to build an executable project plan based on deliverables given by the distribution project sponsor.

Will work through the project plan with the PM while coordinating with the sponsor, DA engineers, AM engineers to ensure goals are met.

Participate on Jet teams to discuss project objectives and options to present for execution.

This role will also provide the engineering expertise and judgment required to make decisions as it relates to project scoping efforts.

Participate in TPD Jet team calls, meetings and scoping efforts for projects in the Transmission organization.

Lead efforts with PME&C engineering on funded projects to provide guidance on deliverables and understanding of the assigned project.

Support efforts on scoping estimate tool refinement to give more accurate estimates for the future.

Participate in industry technical knowledge sharing and best practices sharing meetings with peer utilities.

Work with other stakeholders on a needed basis.

Assist change management group, as needed.

Attend conferences on some newer technology that could show up in projects as solutions at a future date.(DERs such as solar farms, battery storage, etc.).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical, Industrial) from four year accredited institution. Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial)

Electrical Engineer, preferred.

Minimum experience required of the position

Engineer II: 2+ years experience in an engineering discipline.

Engineer III: 4+ years experience in an engineering discipline.

Preferred Experience

Electrical Distribution background.

Distribution design, Distribution Asset Planning or Distribution Asset management is a plus.

Any certificates, licenses, etc., required for the position

Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Technical mastery of engineering principles. In-depth knowledge of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area. Consistently drives for value in sound engineering decisions. Mentors other engineers and technical professionals. Good leadership skills. Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills. Excellent math skills. Excellent project management skills. Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software. Familiar with National Electrical Safety Codes and National Electrical Code. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards. Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service. Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change.

Preferred skills

Demonstrates good engineering judgment.

Strong engineering analysis and problem solving skills as required by the specific job.
Thorough understanding of Entergys procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area. Experience with Distribution Facilities including line and substation, especially portfolio of Distribution Applications (AM/FM, DFM, DIS, SQRT, CPTrac, SWMS, etc.).

Experience in design and build of distribution systems, distribution operations, planning, project management, distribution standards, etc. strongly preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Prior experience in distribution design, operations, planning, or equivalent.
Excellent communication skills and experience / proficiency in PC use and applications.
Proficiency in use of Distribution Applications.
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multi-projects simultaneously.
Self-starter, strong interpersonal skills.
