A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

* Work in areas of site development, grading, drainage, hydrology, structural analysis, structural design, and evaluation of new and existing SCE facilities
* Be responsible for the preparation of documents by in-house and contract resources and provide support to field personnel and other internal and external customers
* Gather data, perform engineering analysis and prepare reports, designs, drawings, recommendations and specifications
* Provide field support for job walks, design verification, and construction support as necessary
* Civil engineering subject matter expert working with a wide range of individuals from client organizations, operations, maintenance, and management to define work requirements and deliverables, carry out engineering design activities, engineering construction support and provide reporting and status updates
* Represent SCE with external agencies for required project and initiative related permits and approvals
* Lead and direct multi-functional teams in civil/structural engineering analysis, design, detailing, and Computer Aided Design (CAD) work required for SCE facility installation, improvements, and repair
* Provide training and direction to less experienced engineering staff
* Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested

Qualifications

The essentials

* Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or STEM field
* Five (5) or more years of Civil/Structural Engineering experience
* Professional Engineering (PE) License in Civil and/or Structural in the State of California
* Proven experience working with a variety of Civil/Structural Engineering principles, including building codes, industry standards and regulations

The preferred

* Civil/Structural Engineering experience supporting electrical utility substation and transmission system facilities
* Demonstrated experience working with teams on technical/construction projects
* Experience providing technical consultation, plan development and recommendations
* Ability to facilitate the presentation of recommendations, effectively present technical information, collaborate and guide discussions toward the attainment of mutually acceptable goals and outcomes with clients, peers, project personnel and jurisdictional agencies
* Proven ability to gather and analyze information, make recommendations, and influence decision making by identifying the anticipated benefits, consequences, & impacts of alternatives
* Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be accountable for individual results, to motivate self to set and achieve high performance standards and be an engaged team member in a sometimes-remote work environment
* Experience managing contractors and providing quality assurance of contractor deliverables
* Functional experience creating and modifying engineering drawings using computer aided drafting
* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, hydrology programs, structural analysis programs or other computer-based design programs

* Position will require up to 60% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
* This position may require helicopter or ferry travel as deemed necessary
* Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
* Relocation does not apply to this position.
* The primary work location for this position is PIV however, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at (alternate work location).
