PROCESS CONTROL ENGINEERING MANAGER
Job Description
United States Steel is looking for a Process Control Manager that will be responsible for project and technology governance across various North American steelmaking facilities. This role will evaluate and prioritize high value projects, make recommendations on work sourcing, and ensure successful delivery of Level 1/Level 2 process automation and digital technology solutions.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively engage teams and promote an environment of respect, communication, and collaboration while encouraging new ideas and different perspectives that drive individual, team, and company success.
Promote the U. S. Steel safety program to ensure a safe work environment, including proper housekeeping.
Supervise dynamic work teams and work closely with vendors and contractors.
Interpret business and operational needs, translate into innovative solutions.
Champion the implementation of new digital technology, IoT/IIoT, advanced analytics.
Coordinate, organize, and direct activities of project teams and technology councils.
Ensure maintenance of asset inventories for process control software and hardware.
Coordinate shared development efforts across steelmaking facilities.
Promote system consolidation and standardization.
Devise and implement cost saving strategies.
Develop and implement methods and procedures designed to improve reliability of technology.
Perform administrative activities associated with managing technology lifecycles.
Facilitate process control strategy and technology roadmaps that are aligned with corporate and plant strategies.
Ability to work a flexible schedule which will include extended workdays, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Skills
Preferred candidates will meet the following requirements:
Bachelor of Science/Masters degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or similar degree program
10 years of demonstrated knowledge developing software and technology solutions (large industrial environment experience preferred)
Minimum of 5 years experience managing teams, projects, quality, and budgets
Excellent verbal and written communication and technical writing skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing is a plus
