To drive toward this mission, the VP Diversity & Inclusion will build on our existing foundation and culture to evolve our strategy and accelerate our progress. This leader will help define, reconstruct and/or implement programs to build and maintain a multicultural workforce at Tech Data, enhance Tech Datas environment of inclusivity and champion all dimensions of diversity across the enterprise. This position will report to our Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer and manage a small direct team as well as lead cross functional and regional colleagues responsible for designing and implementing a holistic program, including partnering with business leaders and external community partners.
This role will bring thought leadership, a compelling vision for success and deep knowledge of the D&I space. This role requires strong collaboration and influence, and comfort with causing discomfort to ensure clear alignment with our organizations diversity and inclusion goals. The role requires creative and innovative diversity of thought to appropriately attract, engage and retain a diverse group of colleagues. Solid communication skills and the ability to demonstrate empathy is critical.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The VP, Diversity & Inclusion will drive:
* Design and implement a holistic, global, enterprise-wide D&I strategy applying macro-trends, research, analysis and benchmarks that reflects and addresses individualized needs and approaches in different markets.
* Partner and collaborate with key leaders across the enterprise, including total rewards for pay equity, talent management for succession and leadership development and company culture, talent acquisition for attraction and recruiting, corporate communications for external partnering and community engagement and strategic sourcing for supply chain/supplier diversity.
* Support Tech Datas community outreach and corporate responsibility efforts with strategies which create engagement opportunities for our colleagues in their respective location and also provide inroads to great talent.
* Serve as a thought leader inside and outside of the organization on all aspects of diversity and inclusion, bringing innovative ideas and best practices to Tech Data.
* Identify new programs or initiatives that can bolster diversity within our company and that reflect the best expertise in this space; from increasing representation to ensuring we have an inclusive culture that truly reflects our values and cultural tenants.
* Work with external organizations and partners to help address barriers to diversity and inclusion that exist in the communities in which we live and work.
* Establish key metrics to assess and measure results of D&I initiatives as well as progress against key commitments and the broader D&I strategy.
* Drive accountability and transparency around targeted improvements in diverse representation, particularly at leadership levels.
* Evaluate data to identify trends and barriers to diversity and inclusion.
* Use engagement survey data and colleague feedback to develop and deliver programs that foster behavior change and growth for leadership and high potential talent.
* Generate metrics to evaluate effectiveness, ROI, and inclusivity of programs, allowing us to measure their impact and identify insights that will drive continuous improvement.
* Develop and oversee the delivery of effective diversity and inclusion training and awareness programs.
* Guide the CEO Staff and regional diversity councils to set the agenda and priorities for D&I globally.
* Oversee Business Resource Groups, providing guidance and direction and ensuring these groups have the appropriate resources and level of influence within the organization.
* Provide leadership, development, and mentorship to a high performing team.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Senior leadership experience in a corporate environment, leading meaningful change - from defining cultures, to operationalizing processes, to shifting perspectives. Ability to articulate a vision, translate it into an executable strategy, and drive cross-functional teams to deliver against the plan.
* Deep understanding of equity and belonging in the workplace and in society.
* Bias for action. Ability to lead strategically and roll up sleeves to get the work done.
* Understanding of both qualitative and quantitative data. Use data and analytics with a track record of delivering operational excellence and efficiency. Can take a dive deep into data and apply that insight into actionable strategies.
* Open-minded and passionate around all areas of diversity and affinities.
* Strong collaborator across functions. Experience building effective relationships across the business, including close collaboration with Talent Management, HR Business Partners, Recruiting, Corporate Communication, Product Development, Legal and the Executive Team.
* Ability to Influence through transparent sharing. This includes storytelling to help people understand the backgrounds, experiences and cultures of others; sharing data to be transparent and hold ourselves accountable to our progress; and sharing out to the broader D&I community what we are trying and learning.
Qualifications
* 10-15 years of experience in HR, Marketing, Product, Diversity & Inclusion or other related fields; at least 5 years focused on Diversity & Inclusion.
* Thought leadership and a deep understanding of diversity and inclusion and belonging discipline.
* Extensive collaborative skills that enable solid levels of influence at all levels, from C-suite to mid-career management, without direct reporting structure.
* Ability to balance passion, critical thinking, and data driven insights to make positive decisions and recommendations to build and deliver on our companys diversity, equality and inclusion strategy.
* Excellence in communication, training and presentation to various audiences, including C-suite and Board of Directors, internal leaders and customers, global colleagues, external partner organizations, customers, media and other social channels.
* Ability to work cross functionally while aligning D&I strategy and goals with the overall company strategy and direction.
* Understand and partnership with Talent Acquisition and Talent Management to build the strategy and understanding the journey of diverse talent and what it takes to succeed within our organization.
* Strong understanding of global legal and compliance related to diversity and inclusion.
* Experience developing and implementing D&I strategic plans that consider both short-term wins and long-term roadmaps.
